Bucknell Professor Raphael Dalleo, English, has won the 2017 Gordon K. and Sibyl Lewis Prize from the Caribbean Studies Association for his book, American Imperialism’s Undead. The Lewis prize recognizes the the best book about the Caribbean, and is described by the Caribbean Studies Association as its most prestigious award. Dalleo’s book examines how Caribbean literature and activism emerged in the shadow of the U.S. military occupation of Haiti from 1915 to 1934, and how that presence influenced the development of anticolonialism throughout the region.
