P. George Benson ’68, a Lewisburg native and the former president of the College of Charleston, was recently recognized with the 2015 Outstanding Directors Award in the public company category by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Benson, who holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Bucknell, was given the award primarily for his service to the board of Georgia-based Primerica Inc., one of the largest financial services firms in the country. He was the president of CofC from 2007-14 and currently teaches at CofC’s School of Business while also serving on several other corporate boards.
