Bucknell Professor is Co-Leader of New Study of Rare Elephants

Professor DeeAnn Reeder, biology, is a co-leader of a new study by Fauna & Flora International that has photographed a critically endangered elephant species in war-torn South Sudan. A herd of forest elephants — smaller and rarer than savannah elephants — were not previously known to exist in Sudan, which is farther north than the species has previously been sighted.

Dr. Reeder’s work was recently featured in an Associated Press story. For more information, check out the longer story (with images) that was recently posted on Bucknell’s news website.
