Four Students Receive Botany Awards

Four students who this year worked in the lab of Professor Chris Martine, biology, have received awards from four different organizations.

Alice Butler ’16 and Meghan Garanich ’16 garnered Botanical Society of America (BSA) Young Botanist Awards, which are given to outstanding graduating seniors. Butler also received an undergraduate research prize from the American Society of Plant Taxonomists, as well as the Kris S. Jarantoski Internship from the Chicago Botanic Garden.

Nathan Luftman ’17 received a BSA student research award — one of just eight students worldwide to receive one — while Emma Frawley ’17 was awarded a Smithsonian Institute Natural History Research Experiences Internship .
