Professor Jennifer Silva, sociology & anthropology, was one of four experts that the BBC interviewed for a feature on the rising death rates of white, middle-aged American women. Silva is currently doing qualitative research in the nearby coal region and hopes to publish a second book on how families are coping with economic and community decline. Some of her work is also featured in a recent news story on the Bucknell website.
