Former Bucknell University provost Mick Smyer, who is currently a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, recently had two articles published in a special issue of American Psychologist, the American Psychological Association’s scholarly journal.
Smyer, who is scheduled to return to Bucknell as a psychology professor following his fellowship, was the co-author of the lead article in the issue titled “Psychology’s Contribution to the Well-Being of Older Americans.” The article outlines some areas where psychological research can contribute to the well-being of older Americans.
He was also a co-author on “Retirement Security: It’s Not Just About the Money,” which discusses the psychological aspect of retirement security, a phrase that is usually associated with financial security.
