In a year which began with the 40th anniversary of official U.S.-China ties, the two countries appear to be spiralling towards a superpower showdown. Zhiqun Zhu, chair of international relations at Bucknell, said in this story that the state of the U.S.-China relationship was disappointing but had managed to avoid the worst-case scenario.
