Are ‘Best’ Rankings Detrimental to the U.S. Higher-ed System?

Some college presidents have recently expressed concern that the rankings can mislead students, especially now that schools have been operating under pandemic-induced limitations for 18 months. Bucknell President John Bravman said in this story that he doesn’t find the rankings “particularly enlightening” for students, but he doesn’t know how to “break out of” the cycle of people relying on them.
