Bucknell Pitcher Relieves Mariano Rivera in His Finale

Matt Daley, an undrafted player after his senior season in 2004 at Bucknell, got the call from the bullpen to relieve legendary Yankees’ closer Mariano Rivera in his final game on Sept. 26, 2013, at Yankee Stadium. As this story reports — and a similar one in Winter 2014 edition of Bucknell Magazine — Daley took more than a lasting memory from that game. Now a scout for the Yankees, he had the ball he used to strike out the next batter signed by Rivera, who is being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame Sunday.
